This is misleading I think, from what I read in the abstract: Authors correct the TMB based on the purity estimates (this would be the new method). The new (and better) estimates of TMB make the ICB response prediction also better.
May explain (at least partially) discrepant results we have seen using TMB as a biomarker #LCSM
Isn't this correlation quite obvious? If purity is low, you'll have a small proportion of sequencing reads that can support a somatic variant, hence an apparent low mutation burden (especially a disproportionate depletion of subclonal variants). Calculate
