The whole thread!
After all the post-pandemic department closings and university closings after higher education budgets collapse. Top private schools will be okay. The rest of the sector is looking at some grim finances.

The "especially those with young children" issue is important. At my own institution our age profile is such that few faculty have kids younger than high school, mostly 18+. That makes it easy to see 2020 as a 'good time to get writing done'.
ATTENTION UNIVERSITIES: Here are some concrete steps.
Yes, to all of these points!

These are good and important, but academia NEEDS to talk about how the pandemic is affecting postdocs caregiving now but on the job market in a couple of years, especially as we are facing second lockdowns this winter

Avui en parlàvem. És un autèntic drama, sobretot per les dones i famílies sense suport familiar. Potser ens hi hauríem de posar seriosament, per no continuar perjudicant les carreres de les investigadores.
Post-pandemic sabbatical -- that may be the best suggestion I've heard for supporting faculty with caregiving responsibilities get back on track. It is a policy that can help anyone affected no matter where they are situated in university hierarchies
Some fantastic ideas here! How do we translate this into policy?

This. But they forgot to quantify the mom guilt that goes along with trying to work while your kids are interrupting. In non-covid life compartmentalization keeps my life sane. The Wonder Woman scientist mom act isn’t compatible with home school.
And yet I am still not seeing any uni change their policies as a result of the fact that all of us are spending less time on research, esp women with young children. https://t.co/GCnnsaDfz0

This study shows that COVID has caused a disproportionate decline in time devoted to research in the "bench sciences". But all Biological Sciences are counted as bench sciences - I would love to see a breakdown of effects on field-based vs lab- or compute
