GWAS and educational attainment 🤔 looking forward to reading this one https://t.co/erLKxDyuJC
Long awaited. https://t.co/63atKu4ZDd
Using DNA alone (a genome-wide polygenic score) it is now possible to predict 11-13% of the variance in educational attainment and 7-10% of the variance in cognitive abilities...there's not many factors that predict that much variance in those traits! http

New genetic study on education concludes that polygenic risk score might be useful for research. Yet, if fig 4a is correct, it has huge potential for screening college admissions too. Only 10% in low PGS quintile completed college vs ~50% in high PGS. http
There's a GWAS for everything these days. https://t.co/pztHPLBSJr
I have mixed feelings about these social science genetic studies but there is no denying they have come of age. In this paper they find 1,271 genetic signals which explain 11-13% of variance in educational attainment, which is comparable to parental income
